In 2026 the Mid-Autumn holiday runs Sept 25 to 27, three days. National Day runs Oct 1 to 7, seven days. Between them sit only three working days; take three days off and you get one stretch from Sept 25 to Oct 7, thirteen days. On a long break like this, the station is one of the busiest places in town, and the window advertisers should watch most in the year.
Last double holiday, national railways moved 219 million trips in twelve days, with Oct 1 the peak. This year Mid-Autumn and National Day stack again, so return trips and travel trips crowd the same weeks. China Railway says the edges of the holiday concentrate most, the middle skews to short trips. For advertisers these 13 days aren't ordinary; they're the densest exposure window at the station.
1. The Traffic Yulin North Already Catches
In its first year the Nanyu link carried 2.75 million trips. Yulin North now moves 5,000 to 6,000 a day and only reaches Nanning East. When the Yucen section opens at year end, Guangzhou shrinks to 1.5 hours and daily ridership could hit 15,000 to 20,000. Buying now still sits in the cheap window.
But the double holiday changes the math. On holidays far more people come to Yulin North from Nanning; weekend micro-trips became routine, and Mid-Autumn returns plus National Day travel both funnel through Yulin North. Then one light box equals several at ordinary times, because the crowd pours in during those weeks.
2. What Each Station Should Hit
Yulin North watches both returnees and travelers. The week before the holiday concentrates returnees; light boxes and LED plant the brand in their heads, and when they see it again in the waiting hall on the way back, the memory sticks. Holiday travelers get tourism and dining posters at Yulin North, catching the Nanning arrivals.
▲ Screens suit seasonal poster rotation; both returnees and travelers see them repeatedly.
Hengzhou is jasmine country; dealers and tourists both pass through. During the double holiday many carry tea as gifts; a light box showing "origin" works better than five minutes at a shelf.
Xingye South serves Xingye County; returnees are the main crowd. National Day returns are another wave, and seeing a home brand at your own station connects fastest. Xingye South is cheap and precise, fit for county brands and local stores.
▲ The entrance is the returnee's must-pass; ads should be up before the holiday.
3. One Month Early, Not After They Arrive
Station posting needs scheduling; you don't say today and hang tomorrow. Seasonal posters should be up a month before, so when riders start grabbing tickets and planning, the ad is already there. Last year's data said double-holiday users book tickets before they shop, so early placement takes the mind share.
The schedule looks like this:
| Window | Main crowd | What to post | Media |
| Late Aug - mid Sept | Planning | Finalize, review, schedule | — |
| Late Sept - 9.30 | Return预热 | Home brands, gift boxes | Light box + LED |
| Oct 1 - Oct 7 | Travel + return | Tourism, dining, gifts | LED + screens |
| Oct 8 - Oct 10 | Return trip | Supplies, back-to-city | Light box |
4. Avoid These Traps
Don't keep it the same all year. Specialty, dining, tourism follow the calendar; spend where the crowd is densest, not spread flat across twelve months.
Don't fill the frame with text. From a distance a light box needs big type, a brand name, one action line. "Have you had soup in Xuzhou?" beats a paragraph. At Changsha South, black classic stinky tofu and Qinglan coconut water both stop eyes with satu-rated color and one line.
Don't buy just one board. Put one on the arrival path and one on the departure path; riders see it twice and recall doubles. A single Shenzhen North livestream showed 33 brands across 13 industries, food, beauty, education, home all fighting for the screen.
